Is JPG to PNG conversion lossless?
PNG itself is lossless, but a JPG already lost some data when it was first saved. Converting to PNG won't recover that, but it won't add any further loss.
Will the PNG be larger than the JPG?
Usually yes — PNG stores image data without lossy compression, so photographic images become larger. For photos, WEBP is a smaller alternative.
